No compromises on safety

Fishing, boating, and spending time outdoors have played an essential role in Henkka’s life for as long as he can remember. In November 2024, however, life took an unexpected and violent turn when he fell victim to an assault and suffered a severe traumatic brain injury.

”I’ve had to relearn so many things from scratch, and my perspective on safety has changed completely. Once you experience firsthand how life can turn upside down in a single second, you start paying much closer attention to the things you can control,” he explains.

Henkka shares his journey of living with a brain injury on his YouTube channel, alongside videos about fishing, boating, and everyday life. Through his company he also works as a public speaker and peer support mentor, in addition to hosting outdoor and fishing activities.

You head out on the water to enjoy life, but you also need to make sure you get back home safely.

Versatile MPS drysuit performs in any weather

The Ursuit MPS is a mid-layer drysuit designed to adapt to varying conditions through layering. Henkka has become a huge fan of the MPS; putting on the lightweight drysuit delivers an immediate sense of security.

”I even made a quick test video with the MPS suit. I jumped straight off the dock into the water, and it worked flawlessly. The clothes underneath stayed completely dry, which left me with great confidence in the gear.”

Because Henkka spends so much time on the water, teaming up with Ursuit felt like a natural fit.

”I genuinely use Ursuit gear in my day-to-day life – it’s definitely not just for photos and videos,” he points out.

The MPS suit and inflatable lifejacket make an outstanding combination on the water.

Comfort and safety in one package

Alongside safety, pure comfort is a top priority for Henkka when wearing the MPS drysuit and inflatable lifejacket.

”Both feel so natural to wear that they never interfere with casting or moving around the boat. After a few moments, you don't even realize you're wearing them,” he says.

Henkka recalls speaking at a local hobby and leisure event, where he gave a talk titled The ABCs of Fishing.

”I was wearing Ursuit’s inflatable lifejacket on stage. While discussing safety, someone in the audience pointed out that they hadn’t even noticed I had a lifejacket on. That really hit home: that’s exactly how safety gear should work – it protects you without getting in your way.”

Henkka is especially passionate about setting a positive example when working with children and young people. He emphasizes that telling a child to wear a lifejacket in a boat carries little weight if the adults aren’t wearing theirs.

”I don’t want to go through life in fear after a brain injury. I want to fish, boat, and do the things I’ve always loved as much as I possibly can. But when it comes to the things I can control, I refuse to compromise on safety,” Henkka stresses.
