Ursuit – Safety and comfort for extreme conditions
Founded in 1964, Ursuit Oy is a Finnish pioneer in high-performance drysuits built for the world’s toughest environments. Our production takes place in Turku, Finland, and Valga, Estonia, and we operate as part of the Sioen Industries Group.
We design and manufacture Ursuit® drysuits for every kind of water activity – above and below the surface. Our main product families include diving, rescue, and recreational drysuits. The Ursuit range features more than 15 standard surface drysuit models and over 10 diving drysuit models, available in a wide selection of colours for both men and women. Beyond drysuits, we also produce shell clothing and durable drybags.
For decades, Ursuit has been the trusted choice of professionals – fire brigades, rescue teams, military units, coast guards – as well as dedicated fishermen, sailors, and water-sport enthusiasts who rely on our suits when conditions are at their most demanding.

Handmade quality, down to the last detail
Every Ursuit drysuit is handmade, allowing us to tailor each suit to the user’s needs. Standard models can be customized with pockets, MOLLE systems, relief zippers, and more. We also manufacture drysuits directly to individual measurements, even in large quantities.
Our made-to-measure expertise serves fire departments, coast guards, police and military forces, maritime crews, and many other professional organisations that depend on absolute reliability.
Quality is at the core of everything we do.
Quality is at the core of everything we do. Our production is strictly controlled and audited annually by a Notified Body according to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, SOLAS/MED, and EASA/ETSO requirements. These certifications ensure that users can focus fully on their mission – while we take care of their safety.
All Ursuit® drysuits are CE-approved under PPE Regulation (EU) 425/2016. Many models also carry additional field-specific approvals such as EN ISO 15027-1, MED/SOLAS, and EN 14225-2. Product-specific details are available for each suit.
Our story
The Ursuit journey began in 1964 in a small dive shop in downtown Turku. The shop showcased the finest diving equipment of the era, including neoprene wetsuits, and its back room doubled as a workshop where each suit was hand-cut to fit the customer.
During the 1970s, neoprene dominated the water-sports world. Ursuit’s 3-mm wetsuits became a favourite among Finnish enthusiasts, and our modern windsurfing suits were a point of pride. As demand grew, we expanded our materials to include durable double-lined neoprene and secured our first export deal with Swedish distributor Watski.
Rapid growth soon required a move to larger facilities, which served as our headquarters for the next 35 years.
In the 1980s, our product development accelerated, introducing the 6-hour SOLAS immersion suits. The 1990s brought a shift toward breathable, more comfortable dry materials. The new millennium marked major milestones: the launch of Heavy Light, our first diving drysuit, and the patented two-piece Ursuit Gemino.
Ursuit's development and growth have continued decade after decade.
In 2008, we moved into our current 2,500m² headquarters in the Lauste district of Turku, employing more than 70 skilled professionals. Expansion continued in 2014 with the acquisition of SG Balticum AS in Estonia, specializing in sports, outdoor, and hunting apparel.
Ursuit and its subsidiaries joined Sioen Industries (Belgium) in 2017. In October 2018, Ursuk Oy officially became Ursuit Oy, and SG Balticum AS became Ursuit Baltics AS.
More than half a century has passed, but our mission remains unchanged: to deliver uncompromising safety and exceptional comfort for every condition nature can offer.
We already employ over 70 professionals in Turku.
